Community Bank of the Chesapeake To Host Children's Book Reading With Local Artist Christina Allen

WALDORF, Md., April 7, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Community Bank of the Chesapeake and the St. Mary's County Arts Council will host a book reading and signing with local artist and author Christina Allen on Saturday, April 18 at the bank's Charlotte Hall branch. Ms. Allen will read from the Mom's Choice Golden Award Winning Children's Book "Momma Tree", for which she provided original illustrations, as well as her original book, "A Micro-Chip on My Shoulder: A True Story of a Little Poult". The bank invites children of all ages and their families to attend.

Ms. Allen's art is currently on display in the Charlotte Hall branch as part of a partnership between the bank and the St. Mary's County Arts Council. The organizations came together recently to launch the Community Art Series, a rotating quarterly exhibition in the branch featuring artwork by local artists.

The reading will take place on Saturday, April 18 from 2:00 – 3:30 p.m. at the bank's Charlotte Hall branch, located at 30165 Three Notch Road, and is open to the public. Christina Allen has been a professional artist for 35 years. She currently resides in Southern Maryland on a sustainable homestead and works out of her Corn Crib Studio. She has illustrated two children's books including "Momma Tree" and "A Micro-Chip on My Shoulder: A True Story of a Little Poult", which she also authored and self-published through her company, Corn Crib Publishing.
